MY CITY, ROSARIO

Rosario is situated in the province of Santa Fe; It is 300kn away from the Capital City of Argentina.
The weather is hot with average maximum temperatures of 24o and average minimum temperatures of 12o.
Rosario is the second biggest city in Argentina with 1,400,000 inhabitants and a modern urban development.


INTERESTING BUILDINGS
The Flag Memorial was built on 20th June. It was built in honour to the flag, that is why we call it “the House of Our National Flag”.
The Airport. It is only 13 km away from the city centre, operating a high number of flights.
Contemporary Art Museum. It is located in an ancient barn which was recycled in 1995 to become a cultural centre oriented to the new trends.
Biblioteca Argentina. It has a large garden with 3,500 square metres. There are many exhibition rooms and offices belonging to the United Nations. There is also a newspaper library.
The Jockey Club and the “Snow Ball” Building – The Jockey Club is the head office of one of the most representative insitutions of the Rosario´s bourgeois from the 20th century. The building outstanding features include a façade with main axes of symmetry, where a corner body articulates the two laterals with an apparently identical image. The club´s coat of arms indicates the date of the construction.

ENTERTAINMENT

Falabella Building, former La Favorita Department Store – This corner is a meeting point for the people living in Rosario. The most characteristic features of this building are its steps in baroque style and the sculptures of the charmer which are allegorical to feminine coquetry.
Independencia, España and Alem Parks- Parks are green spaces where people can relax and enjoy the city. You can also find museums or sites specially designed for children´s amusement on weekends and holidays, craft fairs and markets.

TOURISTIC SPOTS

If you come to Rosario you can´t miss the Flag Memorial standing in the historic area of the city, next to the Parana River, where the Argentinian flag was raised for the first time.
Costa Alta and Embarcadero Resorts are chosen to go for walks along the river.
Also, you have to visit La Florida beach. There, you can go on bike rides, horse riding excursions or practise canoeing among other activities.
The Independencia, España and Alem Parks are the most beautiful ones in Rosario.
In the Contemporary Art Museum there are various shows, exhibitions, information and research, art design and language activities.

OTHER INTERESTING FACTS

A lot of famous people were born in Rosario, like famous comic strips writer Roberto Fontanarrosa, Ernesto Che Guevara a revolutionary and guerrilla leader, an actor called Alberto Olmedo, the well known singers and composers Fito paez and Juan Carlos Baglieto, the football coach Marcelo Bielsa and world-known football players like Javier Mascherano and Lionel Messi.
The city runs along the Parana River. There you can do water sports or take a ride across the Rosario-Victoria bridge to Entre Rios, opposite the city centre.
Tourists can also enjoy marvellous beach days in the isles sand banks.
